Passengers' luggage was stored in the buildings on the wharf and any luggage they wished to have with them during their stay in the Quarantine Station had to go through the steam cleaning process. This included photographs, papers and all clothing.Clothing made from natural fibres often shrank during the steam cleaning process which was just one more hardship people faced when staying here.
